As the date for the Nation Sports Festival, Edo 2021 draws near, teams have continued to step up preparations.
Team Lagos is one of those teams who have taken their preparations to the next level by playing top friendly games against sides in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
After their 2-0 loss to Gateway United FC, Isaac Saviour, a player of Seedos football academy in Lagos who is currently representing team Lagos, spoke to Sports247 and expressed his feelings towards his side first loss in eight months.
“I like it that we lost, so we would not feel comfortable that we’re champions. All the games we won has been in our comfort zone, so it’s good we came out to play in another area so we can learn from our mistakes,” said the Team Lagos Player, Isaac, who had a very good game all through.
“Yes we’re missing the players who are out in U20 actions, they used to be part of the first eleven, but we don’t have any option than to fix up other players and try to adapt,” the lad Isaac Saviour said.
When asked as regards the expectations of people already giving gold to team Lagos in the Nation Sports Festival and the pressure it brings, Isaac Saviour said “to me, I’m not really saying we’ll come back with gold, I just hope we have a good outing there and whatever comes out of it, we’ll thank God for it. I’m not into any pressure, I’m not assuring anybody that we’re coming back with gold but we’ll try our best and if we come back with gold, glory to God.”
The National Sports Festival is billed to hold in February this year after many shifts due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
