It’s 3 games without a win for Team Lagos in preparation for the National Sports Festival, but when you look at the quality of teams they have faced, clearly, it’s a step in the right direction.
After previously playing a draw against Joy Cometh FC and a loss to Gateway United both playing in the Nigerian second-tier league, NNL, team Lagos have picked another draw, and this time it’s against top tier Nigeria Professional Football League side, MFM FC.
“I feel proud like you said, it’s not easy to play Premier League side but the boys gave a good account of themselves and I’m happy with the result,” said coach Adesina Yusuf of Team Lagos.
The absence of certain key players who were out on international duty with the U20 was said to have played a key role in their last results but they had them back for this game and evidently, their presence was felt according to the coach.
“Yes we’re set to go, they’re available now and we have options. Our team is ready to play against any team because the experience is very very important and we proved it today,” coach Adesina said.
The coach extended his gratitude to the Lagos state government and the sports commission in the state for helping them provide an enabling environment to aid their preparations and he feels their support has been helpful in bringing these results as they’re ready to go out and win the tournament.
“Any team that is coming to Edo, we’re ready to beat any team and by God’s grace, festival team Lagos will make them proud, we’ll win gold in football,” he added.
