Eddie Hearn has expressed his views on the Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev fight. The promoter who spoke a great deal before the fight was bemused by the referee’s decision to let it go so late. Joshua completely dominated the fight and even got two knockdowns in the third round. The Englishman eventually got the stoppage in the 9th round. However, Hearn believed it should have been earlier.
Speaking to iFL TV amidst his celebrations, Hearn said, “Unbelievable. Unbelievable. What a performance. I mean, one, how did Pulev even get through, what was it, the third round? He turned his back, the ref should have stopped the fight, really.”
Thus showing his dismay at how the referee handled the fight.
He credited ‘AJ’ for his performance and said, “What a great performance. Composed, brutal, absolutely devastating knockout. The best heavyweight in the world…” Hearn explained his comment about the stoppage saying, “I thought it was over. He turned his back. The fight was over.”
A lot of fans will also agree with Hearn on these comments and admit that the fight was over very early.
