ECONOMIC PLANNING & YOU

word cloud - economic planning

Six days ago, I came across a book titled, “Organizational Culture & Leadership,” by Edgar H. Schein; it’s a fascinating read. One thing that struck me in this book is the four case studies he gave at the beginning of the book. In each of these case studies, he narrated how he was hired by four different firms to implement some strategic organizational turn-around. He narrated how he went into each organization and made key recommendations. However, though his inputs were appreciated by each organization, none of them implemented his advice.

The challenge with each of these organizations was that their culture ate up any attempt to help the companies.

I’m seeing this same challenge with Nigeria. The people at the top (The President and his cohorts) make policies, bring in foreign consultants and try to uplift the economic wellbeing of Nigerians. As you can all see, this approach has not worked.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

1. Don’t accept the current state of the economy as your final.

2. Build capacity to improve your own lot.

3. Keep ensuring you cultivate and sustain a positive mental posture.

4. Don’t lose faith in Nigeria.
