Super Eagles defender Elderson Uwa Echiejile was on target for his Finnish side HJK Helsinki in their 4-1 loss away from on on Monday night and his continous impressive form could be causing selection headache for Eagles boss Gernot Rohr ahead of AFCON.
The former AS Monaco left back gave Helsinki an early lead after two minutes, but parity was restored for FC Inter eight minutes later through Timo Furuholm.
However, HJK Helsinki’s Nigeria-born Friday Obilor was sent off for a reckless tackle on a opponent to hand the host a numerical advantage.
In the second half, goals from Juuso Haemaelaeinen in the 49th minute and another from Daniel Kamy in the 63rd minute condemned HJK Helsinki their first defeat of the season.
Echiejile will be looking forward to make his way into Coach Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles AFCON squad with his current form.
Echiejile joined HJK Helsinki on a one year deal in January after mutually terminating his contract with AS Monaco.
