Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretary-general, Dr Mohammed Sanusi has denied media reports that some players in the Super Eagles squad that played against South Africa on Saturday faced visa hitches before reporting to camp in Asaba, Delta State.
Sports247.ng gathered that Sanusi refuted reports that the South African Embassy in Turkey denied three of the Eagles’ players entry visas for the AFCON 2019 qualifier at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
In contrast with information that the players had to process their visas for the trip in Nigeria, and consequently got late to the team’s camp, Sanusi said the NFF did not get any complaint.
Sanusi pointed out that The Glasshouse would have been notified by the Eagles’ crew and players had such occurred, after which the NFF would have also contacted Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the matter.
The NFF scribe stressed: “I would have informed CAF to act accordingly, so as far as the NFF is concerned, there is nothing like that.
“I know that there are mechanisms to ensure that such issues are checked and they are not to be left in the hands of the South African authorities alone.”
