The much-awaited 3rd edition of the Dynamite Opens Scrabble Championship earlier fixed for this month will now hold between May 15 and 16 this year.
The tournament was put on pause by the organizers so as to make way for the much postponed 2020 National Sports Festival whose new commencement date coincidentally, fell on April 2-3 fixed for the event.
With the conclusion of the Festival, the coast is now clear for upcoming players and students to test their wits against top rivals who featured at Edo 2020.
According to Khaleel Adedeji, the Dynamite Opens Scrabble Championship has now become a veritable ground for intending players to have a tantalizing face-off against those who are still fresh from the Festival which ended on April 14.
As a result, would-be participants have been urged to register and seize the opportunity offered by the tournament to gain experiences as more individuals have continued to snap up the few available slots.
Aiyewunmi Adeyinka, Daystar Atti ( winner of the 4th Nigeria Scrabble Players Competition), Adowei Ebikeme (International Champ), and promising youths like Priscilla Akhabue (a National Youth Games Gold Medalist) and, Musa Lateef are some of the top Opens players already set for the two-day tourney.
A 100,000 naira star prize is also on the card at the tournament which is billed for the Sports Centre, Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos.
Olufemi Gbadebo made history as the first player to win the inaugural edition of the tournament while Alagbada Babajide claimed the top prize at the last tournament.
