After recording modest successes in tournaments, meets and competitions, D’Warriors Scrabble Club has declared it’s intention to build on the positives and add the experience garnered to it’s chink of armour ahead of fresh challenges.
The team consisting of Taiwo Adeniran,Adeagbo Babatunde, Fubara Tamunosiki, Anthony Idorenyin, Adebowale Qamar and managed by Khaleel “Dynamite” Adedeji did put up appreciable display on the board at the prestigious Matchday One of the 2022 Mindgames Scrabble Premier League.
Instructively, both Adeagbo and Adebowale would place 4th and 10th in the Opens and Masters categories of the first IGP Scrabble tournament in Ibadan while Adedeji also tested his skills against top jammers at the Kano Club tournament in the northern part of the country.
Adedeji who was encouraged by these showings emphasised on the desire of the club to build on their performances by competing at more competitions.
According to him, “After the last MSPL Matchday, the players after thorough assessment of our performance are ready to step up by playing more tournaments to have more game time while polishing their word base,” he said.
An inspired Adedeji continued as he highlighted the positive progress from Captain Qamar and Adeagbo.
“positive response can be seen from Adeagbo who was benched for Matchday One and also the Captain, Qamar. Other players in the team are planning to do the same which is good for the team.”
While looking ahead, the club proprietor was quite optimistic about the prospect of his team with the forthcoming South-South Opens in early April and the South-West Closed championships in the same month.
“The expectations on all the players is nothing but a good performance in all the tournaments/retreats they participate in”, he concluded.
