DUBAI will host top rated Ring Officials Seminar for Boxing, Kickboxing, MMA and Muaythai from November 16th to 18th , 2020 that would be certified by the USA based Association of Professional Boxing Commission (APBC). The training seminar will be coordinated by WABA and Ringside Gym Global and expected to bring over hundreds of participants from the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.
In a statement Issued by Irene Joseph Magebo Director of Human Resources Management (DHRM) WABA: Speaking to the media the President and Chair of the Board of WABA the Hon. Ky Col. Onesmo Alfred Mcbride Ngowi affirmed that the Seminar will impart crucial knowledge required for most participants while the second and third seminar is expected to take place in 2021. Col. Ngowi encouraged those who want to take part in the seminar saying they will have ample opportunity to gain in all four disciplines of Boxing, MMA, Kickboxing and Muaythai.
With combat sports widening leverage, one cannot confine himself /herself to one sport discipline but gain knowledge of several others. This is where the world is heading and some boxing organizations realized this some years ago and formed branch organizations for Muaythai, MMA and Kickboxing. Col. Ngowi said that WABA does not want to repeat mistakes that engulfed other boxing bodies hence its resolve to combine all four disciplines under one roof.
This will embolden combat sport by giving boxers and promoters a wide opportunity to pursue as many combat sports disciplines as they wish, said the WABA Guru who has been one of the most highly ranked boxing leaders in the world.
Before settling on WABA Hon. Ky Col. Ngowi was the President of the IBF in Africa, Middle East and Persian Gulf from 1999 to 2019. He was also the longest serving member of the IBF Ratings Committee from 2000 to 2019.
Col. Ngowi was the Board member of the British based Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) from 1998 to 2018 and Board member for both Beijing, China based IBF Silk Road and Bangkok, Thailand based IBF Muaythai from 2015 to 2019.
Col. Ngowi started as an amateur boxer and joined the paid ranks in the early 80s before hanging-up boxing to pursue academic studies at the American College of Greece.
The Dubai’s Ring Officials training seminar will bring renowned and experienced trainers in Boxing (Roger Bonney Banor, the Vice Chairman of the Association of Professional Boxing Commission (APBC) Ring Officials Committee from Ghana. In MMA (Lorenzo Borgomeo from Italy). In Kickboxing and Muaytahi (Didier Le Borgne from France and Lorenzo Borgomeo from Italy) respectively.
Top WABA’s officials in attendance will be the President and Chair of the Board Col. Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi from Tanzania, Vice President Mr. Simon Adjamba from Namibia, WABA Commissioner for Ghana who is also member of the Board of Directors Mr. Henry Manly-Spain and Directors of the Human Resources Management Ms. Irene Joseph Magebo from Tanzania who will coordinate the seminar.
