DSSC Clears Delta Queens Backlogs, Promises Other Sports Equal Treatment

The Delta State Sports Commission (DSSC) has taken a significant step towards reviving the fortunes of Delta Queens, the state-owned female football club, by clearing the backlog of four months salaries owed to the players.

Also the new inaugurated chairman and his board motivated Warri Wolves with financial incentives to beat Crown FC 2-0 in their matchday-one of the Nigeria National League, NNL, and promised they will continue to enjoy the gesture.

He said they are working hard to ensure that Warri Wolve management and players will be willing taken care of like their sisters club.

This move is a testament to the commission’s commitment to supporting sports development in the state. According to the chairman of the DSSC, Comrade Onos Oborewovori, the commission is dedicated to treating all sports equally, ensuring that no team or athlete will be left behind.

The payment of the backlog of salaries to Delta Queens’ players is a welcome relief, as it will enable the team to focus on their upcoming season of the women league without the burden of unpaid wages.

This development is also expected to boost the morale of the players, motivating them to perform at their best.

However former Super Eagles player, Sam Sodje who is also a board member, commended the chairman and suggests that the commission is committed to creating a level playing field, where every sport and athlete has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Sodje said the board that is made up of true sports persons know what it takes to be an athletes.

As the DSSC continues to work towards promoting sports development in Delta State, it is clear that the future of sports in the state is bright.
