Dr. Nongu Strengthens Football Ties With Alhaji Sani Toro In Bauchi

Chairman of Lobi Stars, Dr. Philip Nongu, visited former NFA (now NFF) Secretary General, Alhaji Sani Ahmed Toro, at his residence in Bauchi, reinforcing their shared commitment to Nigerian football.

During the visit, Dr. Nongu updated Alhaji Toro on Lobi Stars’ temporary relocation to Bauchi due to ongoing renovations at their Makurdi stadium. He also shared news of his recent appointment as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Creativity.

Expressing joy at the reunion, Alhaji Toro commended Dr. Nongu’s leadership and deep understanding of football administration.

“You have served football diligently and possess the expertise to excel. I have full confidence in your leadership and pray for your success. Bauchi is home to Lobi Stars,” Alhaji Toro stated.

A highly respected figure in Nigerian football, Alhaji Toro played a crucial role in the Super Eagles’ golden era, including their 1994 AFCON victory and debut FIFA World Cup appearance.

As part of his visit, Dr. Nongu also met with Rt. Hon. Sani Zubairu Gwaba, President of the Nigeria Referees Association and a FIFA-certified referee, to further strengthen ties within the football community.
