Dr. Larry Izamoje has called on sports administrators to partner with radio publicity platforms as he explains that it’s a powerful and viable means of passing out information without boundary and delay.
The chairman Brila Group revealed this at the maiden edition of the Sport Impact Africa held in Gbagada, Lagos on Thursday which was convened by veteran journalist, Deji Omotoyinbo.
“The role of sports radio is a format within radio and radio is within the larger media group. To have a sport initiative well run regardless of what you write, you have to give it to those who jobs involves telling people about it,” Izamoje stated.
“Failure to do do is like a man in a dark room without light winking at a lady and he knows what he’s doing but she is unaware.”
“You must give it to the radio publicity platform to inform the people. Administrators, stakeholders in sport who design initiatives must partner with us so as to help inform the people about what they are doing,” he enjoined.
“These are the kind of things we tell our administrators to do because they can’t do it alone that is why many of us are very far from administration in sport.”
“It’s not because we cannot do it but we are waiting for them to come to us let’s partner. Some of the problems we are having in Nigeria sports today is because they want to sit tight, do the things themselves.”
“It is not their job to inform, not their job to educate and not their job to entertain the people while making the initiative attractive. It is not their job to engage, it is done by sports radio.”
