Mighty Wonderes of Abraka and Ultimate Stars of Agbor will lock horns today in the finals of the 3rd Edition of the KG Sports foundation and Doris Nwadiolu Memorial Cup after wins against KG Sports Academy Agbor and Green Rangers FC Agbor respectively.
The Abraka boys who have been ruthless in their group games defeating Delta Milan 5-0 and Winners FC 3-0 to reach the semi finals met a resilient KG Sports Academy boys and were forced to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The Tournament Leading Scorer Efenimi Tekvwe was caged effectively by the defence marshalled by Veteran Jude Obi who returned to the KG Sports Side after being away for his NYSC program. The first half Ended 0-0 and in the 58th minute mega put the Abraka boys ahead for his second goal in the tournament.
KG Sports Academy Striker Solomon Matthew responded with a strike, his third in the tournament to level scores as the Coach Adeyinka Ogundeji youthful side continue to entertain the fans as they have done all through the tournament. Despite being the youngest side in the Tournament, the KG boys were undaunted and could have clinched the tie when Joshua strike went way wide in the 83rd minute.
The tie ended 1-1 and straight into penalty shootout before the Coach Samuel tutored boys prevailed 7-6 to book their ticket to the finals.
In the Second semi finals, Ultimate Stars defeated Local rivals Green rangers 1-0 with a strike from Wilson in the 70th minute. The tie which drew a lot of fans from both sides was highly entertaining to the delight of the spectators.
” Congratulations to Ultimate, we gave them a good fight” coach Kingsley Irabor of green Rangers said after the match.
“We are in the Second Finals in the last two tournaments, we lost the last finals against Ihuyase, i hope my boys will be able to do it this time” Ultimate Director George Uzoma Stated.
Mighty Wonderers and Ultimate stars both emerged from group B and played out a 2-2 draw in the final group match in which both had already qualified. This final will thus determine the best of the best.
The Chairman of the Delta North Football Coaches Council Coach Emeka Okwutu is expected to be the Special guest of Honor along with the Widower of the Late Madam Doris Nwadiolu, MWO ( Rtd) Gabriel Nwadiolu with other guests of honors.
The Winner of the tournament is expected to cart away the Gold Trophy, Gold medal and Cash Prize. There will also be awards for the Highest goal Scorer, Most valuable player and Fair play award. All Participating teams are also expected to be presented with a Certificate of Participation.
