Don’t Crucify Eagles Coach, Ushurhe Begs Nigerian Media, Fans, Others

Former Coach of Messiah Football Club of Lagos, Anthony Ushurhe has called on Nigerian sports journalists, football fans, and other critical football stakeholders in the country to give the Super Eagles coaching crew led by Gernot Rohr more time instead of calling for his sack following the Eagles poor performance at the recent international friendlies and Nations Cup qualifier match against Sierra Leone.

U S base Coach Ushurhe in a statement made available to our correspondent early today said he has been following the comments of Nigerian football fans and other stakeholders concerning the future of Rohr in Eagles on social media.

Although the Delta-born football coach admitted that the German football coach has not done well at the recent friendly matches and Nations Cup qualifier but saying that the Eagles can bounce back in their remaining matches if all hands are on deck.

“This is not the time to sack Rohr because the German man just signed two years contract with Nigeria Football Federation.NFF. Sacking him now would not do us good rather give him more time to perfect his strategies ahead of future competitions.

“As a coach, Rohr by now should have a stable team unfortunately he is still experimenting with players to get the best for the national team. Let give him time and support him so that he can achieve his mandate by qualifying Nigeria for the next Nations Cup and the next FIFA World Cup. Failure to achieve these tasks, I think NFF can relieve him of the job,” he said.

Ushurhe who is currently handling the U-16 Arsenal football team that are playing in the Junior Premier League in the USA advised the coaching crew to work on defence and the midfield of the team saying that there is no proper coordination in the two critical departments.

He said Sierra Leone came to Nigeria to score four goals was as a result of a poor defensive line and lack of creative midfielders which cost Eagles huge an embarrassing moment before they went to Sierra Leone and salvaged a goalless draw.

  1. That will be a good thing for that Nigeria Government will be doing if they will allow the coach to stay is not all the time you sack any coach that does mistake if we continue to sack everybody that makes mistakes how are we going to move forward, and ones we realised our mistake we can move forward and achieve good goals.
