Asante Kotoko and Black Galaxies goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim, has stated that the qualification of the Ghanaian National Team was far from luck.
Against popular notion, the goalkeeper has hushed everyone believing that his team qualified by luck after Ghana gave away two first-leg goals in Abuja and forced the home based Super Eagles into penalties.
The goalie further stressed that the Black Galaxies had worked for their victory, stating that the team has very good players who are equal to the task of eliminating the Super Eagles. “The only thing we wanted was to win. Our five players scored their penalties. That shows we have good players and showed how prepared we were.
“Those who took the penalties are top penalty takers who belong to their own class. They are the experts in penalties so we are never afraid of penalty shootouts. The goalkeepers too are very good at penalties so when it got to penalties, we were very happy that we could get something from it. Luck is part of it but we also worked for it as well.
Nigeria lost the FIFA World Cup ticket to the Black Stars of Ghana earlier in the year thereby failing to make a 4th consecutive appearance and 7th in total appearances in the world showpiece. To show why concern should be raised on the Nigerian league, the country now has no force in the continent anymore as the home-based Super Eagles cannot qualify using products from the domestic league.
