Hailing from Kebbi, Nigeria, Haliru Sarki showcased his abilities during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. He was particularly impressive in his performances for the Flying Eagles, despite their elimination in the quarterfinals against Korea. Throughout the tournament, Sarki demonstrated his agility and finesse as a left-footed winger. Notably, he scored a vital goal against the tournament hosts, Argentina, during the Round of 16, securing his team’s victory.
Following his standout performances on the international stage, Haliru Sarki caught the attention of Al-Ain, who swiftly secured his services. He becomes the second player from the Nigerian U-20 team to secure a professional contract abroad, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso.
