Rilwanu Haliru Sarki, the talented winger of the Flying Eagles, has recently made a significant move in his football career. This summer, he signed a long-term contract with Al-Ain, a prestigious Emirati club, marking his entry into the ranks of the UAE giants.
Hailing from Kebbi, Nigeria, Haliru Sarki showcased his abilities during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. He was particularly impressive in his performances for the Flying Eagles, despite their elimination in the quarterfinals against Korea. Throughout the tournament, Sarki demonstrated his agility and finesse as a left-footed winger. Notably, he scored a vital goal against the tournament hosts, Argentina, during the Round of 16, securing his team’s victory.
Following his standout performances on the international stage, Haliru Sarki caught the attention of Al-Ain, who swiftly secured his services. He becomes the second player from the Nigerian U-20 team to secure a professional contract abroad, following in the footsteps of goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso. The winger made the move from his previous club, Mahanaim FC, based in Abuja, for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Al-Ain, a highly successful club in the United Arab Emirates, boasts an impressive record with 14 league titles, seven President Cup victories, and five Super Cup triumphs. Haliru Sarki, in his new venture, will proudly don the number 77 shirt, as revealed during his unveiling by the club.
This move to Al-Ain represents a significant step forward in Haliru Sarki’s promising football career. As he joins the ranks of the UAE giants, he will have the opportunity to further develop his skills and contribute to the club’s ongoing success.
