U.S. Cremonese have completed the signing of Cyriel Dessers from KRC Genk for €6.50 million, reports Sports247.
Dessers is the second Nigerian to join the newly promoted Serie A team this summer, following David Okereke, who joined from Club Brugge last month.
“U.S. Cremonese announces that it has definitively acquired the right to Cyriel Dessers’ sports performances from KRC Genk,” the club wrote on its official website.
Dessers, 27, spent last season on loan at Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Dutch league, but the club chose not to exercise its option to sign him on a permanent basis despite his strong scoring form, with 21 goals in all competitions.
He led Feyenoord to the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, scoring 10 goals, the most in the competition. He was also named to the competition’s team of the season.
Dessers joined Genk from Heracles Almelo in 2020. He leaves The Smurfs having netted 11 times in 43 appearances.
“Serie A, see you soon. Very happy to be here. Go Cremo.” he tweeted.
