Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, has voiced his endorsement for the appointment of a domestic coach to lead the Super Eagles, advocating for sustained support and patience to yield positive results.

Aiyenugba emphasized the importance of providing adequate backing to domestic coaches upon their appointment, highlighting the inevitability of challenges during the initial phase of their tenure.

“We need to offer them a chance and rally behind them with unwavering support,” Aiyenugba asserted.

“The journey may not be smooth from the onset, but with patience and consistent backing, they will succeed.”

He urged stakeholders to adopt a long-term perspective and refrain from expecting immediate results, noting that sustained investment in domestic coaching talent is essential for long-term success.

“It’s about allowing them to implement their vision and philosophy gradually,” Aiyenugba explained. “We must understand that building a successful team takes time and perseverance.”

Aiyenugba emphasized the importance of cultivating homegrown coaching talent and creating a supportive environment for their advancement.

“By empowering domestic coaches and offering them the necessary resources and support, we can elevate Nigerian football to greater heights,” he concluded.
