The race to determine the top schools in season four of the Dolphin Swimming League enters the grand finale tomorrow at Children International School (CIS), Lekki, Lagos.
It is the final of the four-leg first private schools swimming tournament, which has attracted more schools to the battle for the top spot. Grange School is the team to beat at the grand finale.
According to coordinator of the tournament, Oluseyi Oyebode, the enthusiasm shown by the schools has confirmed that the tournament promises an exciting time for swimming enthusiasts.
Already, the Nigeria Aquatic Federation and Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF), as well as the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), have approved the tournament as avenue to select outstanding swimmers for major local and international competitions.
“We are overwhelmed by the interest shown by the parents, guardians and students to be part of the tournament because they feel we are doing something right.
“Since the Dolphin Swimming League started, we have shown that we are interested in developing and unearthing talents in the sport and our focus is to be able to produce world stars for Nigeria, with the hope that they will fly the country’s flag at the Olympic Games. We ensured that we get the right personnel to handle proceedings and that is what prompted our decision to partner with the Lagos State Swimming Association, which provided us with experts in the sport,” Oyebode said.
After hosting a good third leg, the organisers chose CIS for the finals this weekend.
The league is organised by Dynaspro Promotion and Advanta Interactive with support from Rite Foods, who have promised to make it memorable for swimmers, who would enjoy several products from the company.
