Joshua acknowledged the difficulty of securing his spot in the Olympics, stating, “It’s not an easy job.

I’ve been in camp training always, and it has been my dream to be an Olympic champion. I know it’s not an easy task to be there. I have to be the best to become the best.”

Joshua emphasized the importance of determination, dedication, and discipline. “First of all, you need determination, dedication, and discipline. The most important thing is that you must be disciplined as a boxer. I struggled with my weight in camp, which was part of the stress. Making weight to fight is not easy.”

Reflecting on his final qualifying fight against an Ethiopian boxer, Joshua recounted, “My final with the Ethiopian was not an easy fight. He’s one of the best boxers in Ethiopia. He came with full force, hoping to get the ticket to France.

As a determined boxer from Nigeria, I needed to bring the ticket back home. That ticket meant a lot to me, so I had to give it my all, 100%, just to get that ticket.”

Joshua is fully prepared and focused on the upcoming Olympics. “I’ve been in camp, training three times daily. It’s not easy. People coming to Paris in my category should be ready. They should buckle up their shoes because I’m coming for them.”

Joshua is known for his intense focus and determination. “I don’t joke when it’s time for a fight. In the ring, I don’t joke.

You as my opponent are there to win, and so am I. The best man wins, and I won’t allow you to win. I need to box you as if I’m an animal.”

Joshua shared his journey into boxing, starting at the age of six. “I started boxing at the age of six while playing football.

My mom noticed that boxing competitions brought me more medals than football. She advised me to focus on boxing, and I did. My dad, a former footballer, bought me my first gloves.”

Joshua calls for support from Nigerians and Africans. “I need support, prayers, and everything just to conquer and bring back the gold. Before going to the ring, I pray and call upon my God to strengthen me.”

After weigh-ins, Joshua enjoys eating “eba and egusi soup” for strength. His favourite Nigerian artist is Seyi Vibes, whose music motivates him during training.

Dolapo Omole Joshua is determined to bring glory to Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics, embodying the spirit of dedication and hard work.
