Head Coach Sunshine Stars, Kabir Dogo says the Owena Whales can become the first team to win a back to back Ogunjobi Gold Cup titles.
Sunshine Stars lock horns against Kwara United in the second semi-final of the pre-season tourney billed for Thursday at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
“As defending champions, we are gunning for a victory. Yes it’s a preparatory game for both teams but a lot is still at stake.
“Victory won’t be easy as the new Kwara United management will want to prove a point with the team to their fans.”
Asked if his team can successfully defend the title they won last year in Akure.
“Records are made and meant to be broken, so it won’t be out of place if we win it.
“Big thumbs up to the organisers of the Gold Cup Tourney for going the extra mile as I read the game will be played under floodlights.
“Not forgetting the Kwara State Government and Football Association for deeming it necessary to host the pre-season tourney, which for me is the best in the country.
“I urged Ilorin fans to come out in their numbers to come and cheers the players up.”
