Sunshine Stars of Akure coach, Kabiru Dogo has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance so far at the Gold Cup pre-season football competition in Akure, but says The Owena Waves still need to beef up in attack and defence, sports247.ng reports.
Speaking against the backdrop of a 1-0 victory against Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos at the weekend, Dogo said ahead of Monday’s battle with FC Ebedei of Shagamu that he will continue monitoring old and new players in the squad, with a view towards building a formidable team before the NPFL season begins.
Although the former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin handler says he is happy with the efforts being displayed by the current set of players in the team, Dogo says he must bring in another attacker and a defender to help the team succeed in the coming season.
The soft-spoken coach, who was with recently with Nasarawa United of Lafia, also thanked organisers of the Gold Cup for taking the competition to Akure, where all the teams have chances of testing new players.
Dogo said: “I must commend the organizer of the Gold Cup Tourney for bringing it to Akure.
“It is a good platform for me, my assistants and other participating teams to test the players we invited.
“They have been sweating it out in the training sessions with a view to impress me and know if they can fit into our playing patterns.”
