Nigeria’s male basketball national team, D’Tigers’ captain, Ike Diogu has declared that the squad is ready to make the country proud at the forthcoming FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.
Though D’Tigers have already qualified for the global showpiece and their outing in Senegal is a mere formality, Diogu said he and his colleagues will take the outing seriously.
The enterprising player promised as much Wednesday morning on a radio sports programme monitored by sports247.ng in Lagos, during which he said they have also set their sight on making an impact at the world level.
Diogu stressed: “We are already thinking of what we are going to do at the World Championship, and we want to work hard to achieve a lot.
“We have already qualified from out group, so the main target is the world championship, when we want to ruffle some feathers.
“We are all getting ready for when real work will start in our build-up, but we are looking beyond that as well.
“The target is to do well inn the national team for years to come. We do have the right talents that can make Nigeria proud over the years.”
