Dino Sporting Club has issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding Afolayan Temitope Peters, recently labeled AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) by Heartland FC.
Heartland previously claimed they were unaware of Peters’ whereabouts.
In response, Dino Sporting Club clarified that the player was recalled due to Heartland’s failure to fulfill their contractual obligations.
“Dino Sporting Club wishes to clarify the status of our player, Afolayan Temitope Peters. The player was recalled following Heartland FC’s inability to honor an agreement and formalize a loan deal after the initial two-season loan expired,” the statement read.
The club revealed that Heartland had requested an extension of Peters’ loan before the 2024/25 season, even urging Dino Sporting Club to provide the player’s registration details to meet urgent league requirements while discussions were ongoing.
Dino Sporting Club complied, but despite this cooperation, Heartland failed to finalize the agreement or pay the loan fee.
“After multiple unsuccessful attempts to finalize the arrangement, we had no option but to recall Afolayan Temitope Peters,” the statement added.
Dino Sporting Club strongly denied Heartland’s assertion that Peters went AWOL, stating, “The claim that Peters went AWOL is entirely false. Furthermore, no loan fee was received from Heartland FC for this player.”
The club emphasized their professionalism and readiness to release supporting documentation to back their claims if required.
“Dino Sporting Club has all relevant documentation to substantiate these facts. We remain committed to upholding professional standards and prioritizing the best interests of our players and the club.”
