Olopade emphasized the necessity of adopting a strategic, standardized, and scientific approach to the Commission’s operations, particularly in the administration of Sports Federation Elections. He highlighted the need for reforms that would attract top-tier professionals and visionary leaders to key positions within Nigeria’s sports federations.
“There is no way we can’t be looking at having top industry CEOs on board in our Sports Federations,” Olopade asserted, pointing to the importance of bringing expertise from the corporate world into sports administration.
The DG also pledged to revitalize critical initiatives such as the National Sports Industry Policy and the 10-Year Football Master Plan, aligning these efforts with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to Olopade, this agenda focuses on creating a balance between sports consumption and sports production.
“The Chairman and myself strongly believe we need to have a different approach to our Federation Elections,” Olopade remarked, signaling a shift towards more inclusive and progressive practices within the Commission.
The meeting underscored Olopade’s goal of enhancing the corporate image of Nigerian sports while fostering professionalism and sustainable development across the sector. By championing forward-looking policies, the NSC is set to become a driving force for transformative change, aiming to elevate Nigeria’s sports industry to international standards.
Olopade’s vision reflects an unwavering commitment to positioning Nigerian sports as a global leader, grounded in innovative governance and a shared sense of purpose.
