DFA Partners with DSCHC to Provide Better Healthcare for Footballers

The Chairman of the Delta State Football Association (DFA), Chief Godwin Adode, has reiterated the association’s commitment to ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for both active and retired footballers in Delta State.
During a working visit to Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Chief Adode highlighted the health challenges footballers often face during and after their careers, including injuries and chronic conditions.
He emphasized the need for a tailored healthcare scheme that addresses injury management, rehabilitation, and mental health support, while also promoting awareness within the football community.
Chief Adode revealed plans to partner with the DSCHC to register over 2,000 footballers under the state-run health scheme, making quality healthcare more accessible at minimal or no cost.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to improving the welfare of Deltans through the MORE agenda and praised Dr. Akpoveta’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services in the state.
Dr. Akpoveta, in turn, lauded the DFA’s initiative, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the health of athletes for optimal performance.
He assured the DFA of the scheme’s support and urged well-placed individuals and organizations to register indigent Deltans in the scheme to expand its reach.
The visit concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to Chief Adode by Dr. Akpoveta, in the presence of DFA Board members Mr. Solomon Iwerenor and Mr. Patrick Mariere.
