Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby has spoken out in confidence of his team’s chances at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, as he says they are ready to take on the best teams that come against them.
Sports247.ng can report that Dennerby took a defiant stand in reaction to Saturday’s draw that pits his team against Norway, Korea and hosts, France in Group A, as he says the Falcons are not afraid of any foe.
The Swedish soccer tactician stressed that the Falcons will not enter the competition with a defeatist mentality, but admits they will have to prepare adequately in order to have a good chance of standing tall.
He went on to analyse what he knows about all three group rivals, and reckoned that the African champions wild be able to scale through the group once they take each game at a time, as they come in June 2019.
“I am okay with the draw because I always knew that we would have to play the best teams. That is what you do at the World Cup.
“There is no easy group here. We must prepare very hard and then take it one match at a time during the finals.
“The French team is, of course, world class, and I know we would have to fight very hard against them.
“The Koreans are very technical and have pace but we will confront them with our physical strength, ability and pace of our own and we have a great chance in there.
“I know the Norway team, more than they know us or can hope to know us. At the end of the day, it would come down to preparations.”
