The Delta State Football Association (DFA) has officially announced the commencement of the 2024 State League, revealing the start date, fixtures, venues, and match times for the highly anticipated competition.
This year’s league, featuring 32 clubs, is poised to deliver an electrifying display of grassroots football across the state.
In a statement released by Honourable Ken Nwamucha, the Chairman of the DFA, the league is scheduled to kick off on August 21, 2024. Matches will be hosted at four key locations: Agbor, Ogwashi-Uku, Oleh, and Sapele, ensuring widespread access to the exhilarating action.
“This year’s State League promises a dynamic, thrilling, and high-caliber grassroots football experience, showcasing the incredible talents of clubs throughout the state,” Nwamucha declared.
He commended the League Management Committee for their diligence in overseeing a seamless registration process, particularly in the face of overwhelming interest from club managers across Delta State.
Nwamucha also highlighted the rising excitement surrounding the league, acknowledging the challenges of accommodating all interested clubs due to the competition’s growing popularity.
“Excitement is at an all-time high for this year’s state league. While every club in Delta State is eager to join, accommodating them all isn’t feasible. Nevertheless, the League Committee has skillfully managed the challenges, and we are all eagerly anticipating an extraordinary showcase of grassroots football talent and a spirit of international camaraderie,” he added.
