Organizers of the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival tagged “Delta22” have unveiled the official logo and Mascot for the 2022 multi-sports competition billed to hold from November 2 to 15, 2022 in Asaba Delta state.
The official logo and the mascot, named UZO, were unveiled by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, at an event held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba on Wednesday night.
UZO symbolizes Delta state’s physical power, strength, ferocity, focus, and willpower to continue to dominate in sports.
Speaking after the ceremony attended by other top dignitaries from various sectors of the government and other sports personalities, the Chairman of the local organizing committee (LOC), Patrick Ukah said the success of the colorful event shows that Delta state is ready for the sports festival.
“We believe this festival would go down in history as the best organized and most economically viable in recent history with the array of sponsors that have already aligned with the event,” Ukah said.
While Okowa stated that the people of the state are happy that the event will be held in Delta.
“We want competitors but we are also sure of winning even here at home. We would put in our best and at the end, we would show that truly, ‘Delta no dey Carry Last’,” he said.
This is the first time the “Nigeria mini Olympics” will be taking place in the South-South state.
