Kwara United Football Club today defeated Nilayo FC 3-0 in the on-going Prince Dapo Abiodun Pre-Season football tournament, holding at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.
Ohanu Michael scored a brace in the 12th and 31st minutes, and highly enterprising Shola Abdulraheem added the third in the 88th minute, to dispatch the Nigeria National League side.
Kwara United FC now have four points, ahead of the match against Shooting Stars Sports Club tomorrow, having played out a one-all draw against Remo Stars in the first match.
Kwara United FC combined understanding with determination to approach the game, with goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba almost on holiday throughout the game.
The team’s handler, Coach Abdullahi Biffo said that his boys played to instruction, especially in the second half, saying that he had instructed them at intervals not to concede a goal if they cannot add more.
But the introduction of Shola, Danbani, and Lucas Alves added value to the midfield, as the opponents found it hard to contain Kwara United FC in that department.
While lamenting the injuries in the team, which he attributed to daily matches, Coach Biffo said that the tournament is an opportunity to discover the loopholes in the team ahead of the commencement of the NPFL season.
Ahead of the last match with Shooting Stars Sports Club, Coach Biffo said even though the Ibadan-based side has a strong team too, his boys will play normally, and that it would be a nice experience playing 3SC.
The match with 3SC comes up by 9.00am tomorrow.
