Following the match, Sports 247 engaged Coach Bashiru Fatai of Dannaz Ladies in a post-match interview to gather his insights on the outcome.
Coach Fatai began by acknowledging the unexpected result, stating, “As you see, it’s not what we expected today, but football as I always say, is a game of win, draw and lose.”
Despite the disappointment of defeat, Coach Fatai emphasized the unpredictable nature of football and the need to accept both victories and losses.
When questioned about the factors contributing to the team’s performance, Coach Fatai highlighted the challenges of fatigue and injuries faced by the players.
He explained, “But as you can see our girls when they got to the 60,70 minutes, they got tired, fatigue, a lot of fatigue.
They travelled twice a week, and then they came back to play in the FA semi-finals, travelled again, and got back on Thursday.”
The demanding schedule and lack of sufficient rest took a toll on the players, affecting their performance on the field.
Despite the setbacks, Coach Fatai emphasized the resilience of his team, noting that many players were playing through injuries and fatigue.
He stated, “As you see, a lot of players are playing with injury, and we just need to manage them.
We have just numbers of players to play. That’s what we have, and that’s what we are going to use.”
Despite the challenges, the team remained committed to giving their best effort in the match.
Looking ahead, Coach Fatai expressed determination to regroup and prepare for future matches, including an upcoming home game against Adamawa Queens FC.
He emphasized the importance of rest and recovery for the players before the next match, stating, “So, we go back, we get them to rest before the home game, as you know.
We are playing it on Wednesday against Adamawa Queens FC. They are coming down to Lagos.
We have no option; we need to relax, and we play the game.” Coach Fatai’s focus remains on ensuring the team’s readiness and resilience in the face of upcoming challenges.
