A Lagos based amateur club, Dannaz Football Club on Sunday afternoon gained a promotion to Nationwide League One, NLO after defeating Best Talents 4-2 on penalty shootout in the play off Nigeria Amateur League Division Two.
The encounter ended in one goal apiece at the regulation time before the two teams went on penalty shootout at the Shgamau stadium, Ogun State.
Dannaz who won all their matches came first in Shgamau centre to set up a final play off against Best Talents FC who are overall winners in Ejigbo centre, Osun state
Reacting to this promotion, technical director of Dannaz, Fatai Akande Smith thanked the club owner for his financial commitment to the club throughout their campaign at Shagamu centre.
He said the players were motivated by the kind gesture of the club owner which really helped the team to grab the sole ticket from lower division to the NLO.
“It was a historic victory for us because we have been looking forward to get the promotion to the NLO. Our dream has come true today and I want to use this medium to thank our club owner for his unalloyed support given the team throughout our campaign. Also I thank Ikeja Divisional Football Association and Ikeja Football Coaches Council for their prayers and support given to us to achieve our target in Shagamu,” he said.
