Daniel Amokachi Reveals Emmanuel Amuneke’s Role in Keeping Him at Lobi Stars

Lobi Stars head coach, Daniel Amokachi, has revealed how a late-night conversation with his former Super Eagles teammate, Emmanuel Amuneke, inspired him to remain in his role at the Makurdi-based club.

Following inconsistent performances during the first half of the season, the former Besiktas forward admitted he had been on the verge of stepping down.

“There were rumors before Christmas that the management of Lobi Stars gave me an ultimatum, but that’s not true,” Amokachi clarified.

“After our final game of the first round against Heartland, I seriously considered resigning. I wasn’t frustrated with the team itself but with some issues surrounding us.”

Amokachi shared that Amuneke, upon hearing about his frustrations, reached out to him at midnight.

“We talked for almost an hour, and his words of encouragement completely changed my perspective.

That conversation gave me renewed hope for the league and its future, and I’m deeply grateful to him.”

Amokachi and Amuneke were integral members of the Nigerian Super Eagles team that clinched victory at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics
