Nigeria’s esports industry has taken a significant step forward with the appointment of Damilola Pedro as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Esports Federation of Nigeria.
A trailblazer in sports marketing, partnerships, and project management, Pedro’s appointment marks a new chapter in the country’s esports development.
As co-founder and COO of Gamr Africa, a leading platform dedicated to discovering, educating, and empowering African gaming talents, Damilola Pedro has played a crucial role in elevating African esports onto the global stage.
Her leadership has not only expanded opportunities for emerging gamers but also enhanced the continent’s gaming ecosystem by integrating technology and innovation.
Her appointment aligns with the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) vision to recognize esports as a major sporting discipline. Last week, NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade officially inaugurated the board of the newly formed Esports Federation in Abuja, signaling the government’s commitment to developing Nigeria’s esports industry.
Pedro’s extensive background includes an Executive Diploma in Sports Management and Marketing from FIFA and a Master’s in Project Management and Marketing. With a track record in sports marketing at Red Bull Nigeria, she has successfully managed large-scale sporting events across athletics, football, road races, and gaming.
Her deep industry knowledge and ability to integrate technology with sports have positioned her as a key driver in shaping the future of gaming in Africa. With the NSC’s full backing, the Esports Federation of Nigeria is set to roll out strategic initiatives that will solidify the country’s status as a powerhouse in global esports.
