Dagburewe of Idowa Marks First Coronation Anniversary with Week-Long Grand Celebration

The celebration of the first coronation anniversary of HRH Oba (Barr.) S.K.A. Okuribido, Okulete II, Anowoneyo IV, began on January 20, 2025, with an impressive start to a week-long series of events marking 365 days of his reign as the Dagburewe of Idowa.

The first day featured a two-part program, starting with a World Press Conference attended by global media representatives, Olorituns, members of the Coronation Planning Committee, and the Dagburewe Council of Chiefs, such as Alhaji Chief S. Tola Adebambo (former Regent and Babalaje of Idowa), Alhaji Otunba S.O. Ismail (Bobajolu of Idowa), Alhaji Otunba F.O. Abiona (Aare Musulumi of Idowa), and Otunba (Barr.) Funmilayo Toyin Osibote (Arijeloye of Idowa), among others.

During the conference, HRH Oba Okuribido highlighted significant achievements in various sectors during his first year of leadership:

Economic and Financial Empowerment

Facilitated a ₦100 million revolving loan for farmers and community groups.

Distributed tricycles to support mobility and income generation.

Acquired 15 acres for fish farming to promote local aquaculture.

Established the Idowa Bulk Purchasing Market, offering ₦500 million worth of food items at a 50% discount.

Education and Skill Development

Launched the Idowa Vocational Centre in October 2024, training over 50 students with globally recognized certification.

Funded JAMB and WAEC fees for more than 100 students.

Awarded scholarships to private universities for 23 students over two academic sessions.

Community and Social Support

Provided donations to the aged and physically challenged.

Expanded Community Development Associations (CDAs) from 3 to over 60 to enhance grassroots governance.

Fostered youth unity through regular re-orientation meetings.

Infrastructure Development

Interlocked two roads to improve accessibility.

Renovated Dagburewe Market (Oja Oba) for better trade opportunities.

Unveiled 3D architectural designs for palace development.

Launched the Dagburewe Development Initiative (DDI) to plan Idowa’s future growth.

Security Enhancement

Formed a security committee and procured surveillance equipment to boost community safety.

Employment Support

Disseminated job opportunities to residents to enhance local employment rates.

The day’s second event was an indigenes rally, where sons and daughters of Idowa gathered for a traditional dance procession (Woro), culminating at the palace with interfaith prayers—Traditional, Christian, and Muslim—for the town’s continued prosperity.

The celebration will continue throughout the week, welcoming dignitaries from across the nation, and concluding with events scheduled until Saturday.
