This former Nigeria national U-17 and U-20 coach gave this assurance during the flag-off ceremony of the maiden edition of Dr Alex Chioma Otti Secondary School Sports (DACOSSS) held at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
In his remark, Coach Obuh thanked Governor Alex Otti (OFR) for promoting grassroot sports development and assured him of its success via collective effort.
“… we’ve had a lot of good people that have represented us (in sports) most of them are now coaches. They were all gotten from the grassroot. When I was asked to present this my little address, I felt so happy because we are lacking as far as these areas (of grassroot development) are concerned, but I thank God for His Excellency (Dr. Alex Otti) for changing the trajectory I believe that he has an instinct as far as development of sports is concerned from the grassroot, and that is exactly what he has mandated us to come together and light the torch of sports development in the State.
” In a nutshell, I am assuring him (since) he has invested into the best thing that Abia State is known for, and that is, catching them young from the grassroot, and with the quality of the Honorable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, it is very easy, we’re going to deal with it.”
In his message, the Governor who was ably represented by his Deputy, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, charged the participants to showcase their God given talents and also strive to represent Abia State at the national level.
The highlight of the program was the lighting of the DACOSSS torch by the Deputy Governor.
