Cyriel Dessers has won Feyenoord’s Player of the Month award for April, earning the prize for the third time this season. His selection comes as no surprise given his performance last month.
Dessers scored 4 goals and provided one assist in six matches in April, with all four strikes coming in the Europa Conference League. The striker netted twice against Slavia Prague in the second leg of the quarter-final to send Fayernoord to the semis.
Dessers played a huge part in Feyenoord reaching the final of the competition, with two more big goals against Marseille in the semi-final, including the winning strike in a 3-2 first leg result. Both teams played out a goalless draw in the second, which was enough to send Feyenoord to the final where they’ll face Jose Mourinho’s Roma on May 25.
Dessers is the top scorer of the Conference League with 10 goals. He has 20 across all competitions this season. Earlier this week, the 27-year-old was included in Nigeria’s 30-man squad list for friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador, his first call-up since October 2020. He has made one appearance for Nigeria.
