Yusuf Jayeola opener and Abdullahi Ibrahim’s brace made the difference in Abakaliki as Cynosure Football Club cruise to a resounding 3-0 victory against Lucky Star FC.
Cynosure Football Club attained a lofty height at it bagged three wins in four matches under Festus Allen in 2021. Though friendlies, the team looks refreshed and hungry for success, heading into the Nationwide League One season.
Cynosure dominated a larger part of the encounter right from the start of the game and in the 10th minute, Lucky Star FC bowed to pressure as Yusuf Jayeola received a defense splitting pass through the left flank from Oliver Edet, his first attempt ricocheted against the left bar back to him. He then calmly slot in lowly at the right bar.
Cynosure piled more pressure trying to score more goals but a handful of missed chances left the visitors trailing with just a lone goal heading into halftime.
Revitalized by the half time pep talk by Festus Allen, Cynosure FC players hit the ground running with two quickfire goals in the 48th and 50th minutes by Abdullahi Ibrahim. More like a morale booster for Ibrahim who had a golden opportunity to get a hat-trick in the 66th minute when Daberechi Anyanwu was brought down in the penalty area. He took the spot-kick and the opposing goalkeeper saved calmly.
It a good game of football by Cynosure who could have gone seven goals up but positives will be taken as we take a giant step toward success.
