After almost two weeks of excitement, thrills, frills, and frenzy, the curtain falls on the 20th edition of the 2020 Edo National Sports Festival at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium with some high-profile performances as well as the traditional finals of the relay.
According to the Secretary of the Main Organizing Committee Mr. Peter Nelson, “The closing ceremony of the Edo 2020 will get underway from 5- 9 pm and will be heralded by cultural displays, parade by the states contingents with the high point of the closing ceremony being the 4×100 male and female and 4×4 mixed relays.
Also, the next host of the 2022 edition of the Festival is expected to be announced in line with tradition”.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development Chief Sunday Dare is expected to formally make the announcement.
Delta State have an unassailable lead on the medals table, with Edo and Bayelsa trailing in second and third positions. Interestingly, all the participating teams have won medals at the biennial event.
The Festival was moved from 2020 due to the outbreak of covid-19.
