Simy Nwankwo scored for the sixth game in a row against Spezia on Saturday but Crotone suffered yet another defeat in Serie A, their 23rd of the season.
With eight games to go, Crotone are bottom of the league table and looks certain for the drop.
They are nine points away from safety having played more games than Torino in 17th place.
At this point, it is all gloom for the side in their first season back in Italy’s top-flight after suffering relegation in the 2018/19 season.
On his part, Simy played a pivotal role for Crotone in their promotion from Serie B last season. The Nigerian scored 20 goals to end as the league’s top scorer.
The goals have continued to flow in Serie A this campaign with the 28-year-old notching his 16th of the season against Spezia.
He has been linked with fellow Serie A side Genoa and a host of other clubs are seemingly interested.
While Crotone won’t be able to beat the drop despite his goals, Simy has done enough to warrant a transfer away from the club come season’s end. He certainly will remain in Serie A.
