Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) president, Professor Yahaya Ukwenya has cast doubt over the chances of Abuja hosting the International Cricket Council (ICC) qualifiers next year.
In spite of recent reports that the ICC event will be staged in Nigeria in the first quarter of 2019, Ukwenya told sports247.ng he cannot guarantee the hosting of the qualifiers in Abuja.
Ukwenya said he cannot give any assurances in that regard, simply because of the unpredictability of the financial climate in the federation at the moment.
He, however, provide an alternative option, saying if Abuja will not be ready to host before the time of the qualifiers, then the NCF will have no option than to fall back on Lagos as an alternate venue.
