A board member of Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Chika Okoro has advocated a situation whereby schools across the country will make space for their students to play the game.
Okoro said in an interview with sports247.ng that getting various youth and schools involved in the sport is the key to cricket development in the country.
He added that the task is already on, as Nigeria is setting the pace and example for school sports in cricket across West Africa.
Okoro said: “I am happy with what we are doing as a federation, in terms of youth development for cricket through the involvement of various schools.
“The project is already showing good signs for the future of cricket in Nigeria and I am sue, within a few years, it will start to yield results.
“That is the basis of our mobilisation programme. In fact, there can be no any other time to launch the mobilisation programme than now.
“It is already gaining ground across the country, and everyone in the cricket federation and outside are happy over the response.”
