Atlantic Business FC head coach Aderola Yinka insisted that he was pleased with his side’s performance in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Gbagada FC in the Creative Championship Cup.
ABFC took a second-half lead in their Creative Championship Cup opener courtesy of a goal from Williams Tajudeen but were pegged back by Gbagada with nine minutes of regulation time left on the clock.
Speaking after the final whistle, Yinka stated that his side became complacent after going ahead, but he is happy with the overall performance.
He told Sports247: “The points were there for us to pick up but we let it slip. We were a little bit sloppy after we took the lead. I think fatigue set in and my players were not reacting to second balls very well. It’s something we’ll go back to work on.
“Overall, I’m very pleased with the performance of my boys. We’ve seen our lapses in this game and I’m very sure we’ll do all we can to correct it in the next game.”
Yinka also lauded the Creative Championship Cup, saying he is happy to take part in the competition. “We are here to showcase our players and let the players have a proper platform to showcase what they are capable of. We are very happy to be here. And also, we have plans to win the cup. So we are going to keep working to achieve that.”
