CP Olufemi Abaniwonda Peace and Unity Cup: “Soccer Is a Unity Game, Excitement, and Enjoyment” – DFA Chairman Adode.

Delta State Football Association Chairman, Godwin Adode, has reminded the 14 participating kingdoms in the CP Olufemi Abaniwonda Peace and Unity Cup that soccer is a game of unity, excitement, and enjoyment.

The tournament, taking place in Ughelli, aims to bring communities together, fostering unity bonds.

Adode emphasized that the tournament shouldn’t be taken too seriously, urging participants to focus on the platform’s unity-building purpose. He also revealed that football agents and scouts will attend, providing an opportunity for kingdoms to showcase their best players.

“The platform is not just about winning prizes or money; it’s about sustaining peace and unity among our kingdoms by building cordial relationships,” Adode said.

Adode, a former chairman of Delta Stars Football Club, expressed gratitude to Delta State Inspector General of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, and Ughelli Police Force Area Commander, ACP Ademola Adebayo, for initiating the tournament. He promised the Delta State Football Association’s continued support and partnership with the Nigeria Police Force to promote sports and maintain a safe haven in Delta State.

The tournament is billed to kickoff on Saturday 29th at Open football field Ughelli, Delta state at 10am when Olomu kingdom will lay tackle on Owheru kingdom before Agbon Kingdom will play against Arhavrwarien Kingdom at 12noon. The Effurun Otor against Orogun kingdom game will conclude the opening day games in the knockout format.
