Our attention has been drawn to a football tournament going on at Waasinmi area, Ewekoro Local Government of Ogun State tagged “Waasinmi Summer Soccer Championship”.
While we find it shocking and inexplicable that despite the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 consistently stressing that Football has not been cleared to return in the country, some disgruntled elements are not bothered about the consequences and have flouted the Covid-19 rules.
Ogun State Football Association has ordered that the unlawful competition be stopped with immediate effect and the appropriate quarters including the Ogun State government through the Ministry of youth and sports have also been.
Here is also a stern warning to everyone playing football anywhere in the state that the Government of the day will not tolerate such if caught flouting the COVID-19 orders all in the name of pleasure.
Rest assured that the State FA is on top of the situation and is working laboriously in ensuring that Football stakeholders adhere to the rules while we hope for a safe return of the round leather game in the Country.
