As Nigeria battles Novel Corona Virus, Anambra South Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah on Saturday, distributed palliatives to various local government areas of Anambra State. The palliatives which consist of 26,000 bags of 5kg rice, 11,200 bags of 5kg garri, 9,400 cartons of tummy tummy noodles, 6,000 bottles of cooking oil, 32,000 bottles of hand sanitizers, 65,000 disposable face masks, 8,000 washable face masks, 2,000 bags of 25kg garri, 500 bags of 25kg rice, 42 thermometers and 62 tricycles were distributed to families across the twenty-one local government areas of the state in order to curtail the effects of the new Corona Virus which has forced businesses and services to a halt, and also denied the entire world the fundamental right of movement. Recall that on December, 2019 Senator Ubah empowered two hundred Anambra South youths with two hundred motorcycles and also distributed trucks of rice and noodles to various families of his Senatorial District.
While distributing the palliatives, Senator Ubah who was represented by Anambra State leader of Afaigboefuna, a socio-cultural organization, Mbazulike Iloka, thanked the state governor Dr. Willie Obiano for his efforts towards protecting the state from the Virus and urged him to keep watchful eyes on the state boundaries in order to prevent importation of the virus to the state. The Anambra South Senator also urged ndị Anambra to continue adhering to the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) by regularly washing their hands under running water, using hand sanitizers when water isn’t available, proper use of face mask when necessary, practicing social distancing and avoiding handshakes, hugging and over crowded places. He also advised the people to always abide by the state government directives.
In their remarks, the beneficiaries represented by their Wards heads thanked Senator Ubah for his efforts towards promoting the wellbeing of the people and urged other public office holders to emulate the kind gesture in order to keep Anambra safe.
The event which was attended in line with NCDC guideline of social distancing took place at the Nnewi residence of the Anambra South Senator.
