Players of Rivers United FC have been given a one-week break following the suspension of this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The 2020 NPFL season was suspended on Wednesday in line with global health preventive protocol against the Coronavirus (COVID 19).
Speaking on the decision to allow players of the club proceed on a one-week recess, General Manager, Chief Dr. Okey Kpalukwu (Eze-Udo) explained that it was imperative and latent given the uniqueness of the current situation across the globe.
“These are unpreceedented times and we have impressed in on all our players to observe caution in the wake of the Corona virus outbreak,” Chief Kpalukwu told the club’s official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
“Players have also been advised to remain professional and understand their core duties and responsibilities at all times.
“The objective remains claiming silverware and success in every competition we enter for this season.
“To achieve this, everyone associated with this football club, and that includes the players, has to be on the same page,” he said.
Chief Kpalukwu further noted that all players will be expected to resume for their professional duties on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
