In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Prince Adeniyi Adisa Beyioku, the AFN has shown its remorse over the postponement of the scheduled congress which is also meant to discuss other expedient issues at stake and has approved the training plans for the postponed TOKYO 2020 OLYMPICS.
The Congress was also convened to confirm certain decisions taken by the board of the federation at its last meeting in Abuja in January as well as a review of its constitution.
“We have no choice than to postpone the congress date indefinitely due to the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic, Beyioku allayed.
“There is a notice issued in February in line with the relevant section of the AFN constitution and the notice still subsists and also advised all stakeholders in the sport to stay safe and follow all medical and social regulations issued by relevant authorities as Nigeria battles to fight the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
