FC Robo Queens midfielder, Esther Oyenezide has cautioned that Africa teams shouldn’t be seen as underdogs in major European competitions while also confidently stating that Nigeria has no fear for anyone as the team looks to claim the major trophy.
The explosive midfielder scored the only goal, a beautiful belter against Korea Republic as Falconets ease thier way to the next round of the U-20 World Cup with a game left to play.
In Group C of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria have now managed their second 1-0 win in a row, this one coming against Korea Republic to seal progression to the next round.
She revealed in an interview with CAF online, “We are a giant in Africa and fear no other team. We’ve trained an unbelievable amount and if you look back at qualifying, then we’ve every right to be confident out here whenever we play.”
“We want to show the world that we’re not just big in African terms but that we can beat any other team.”
Only two teams are on maximum points at the end of the second series of group games – Nigeria and defending champions Japan.
