Anthony Joshua in an interview in Nigeria, told the press that Efe Ajagba is the favourite to win as the Nigerian has what it takes to defeat the Congolese.
In a swift reaction, Bakole, a sworn enemy of Joshua quickly went to social media to heavily criticise Anthony Joshua for pitching tent with the country and promised to knock Efe Ajagba out before knocking Anthony Joshua, someone he said has been docking his call for a fight.
On Monday 6, 2025, Bakole released a video on social media where he didn’t mince words and expressed his confidence in knocking out Efe Ajagba, whom he referred to as a Baby, in the IBF heavyweight title eliminator and then do the same to Joshua.
Bakole rants on in the three minutes and half video, a visibly bittered Bakole said :
“I want to knock you out, I heard you talking shit saying Ajagba was going to beat me”, began Bakole .
“Shame on you. How many times did I call you out? How many times did I ask to fight in Africa? You should be ashamed of yourself. I want to fight you. I want to knock you out.”
Bakole continues:, “Look at Daniel Dubois. I broke his nose twice. He knocked you out cold. I will knock you out in the first round.”
” You’re talking about Ajagba; Ajagba is a baby. Wait until you see how I am going to knock him out. I want you to be there. You’re talking shit.”
Then he directed the vituperations to Joshua, then called him out ” I want to fight you. Stop talking nonsense. Now you say you’re in Nigeria and are not British anymore. I will knock you out. I’m the African champ. I’m an African warrior. After knocking Ajagba out, I will knock you out as well.” Bakole boasts.
Martin Bakole is presently on ten bout winning streaks, his victims in the last ten bouts include Jared Anderson and Carlos Takam to take his boxing record to 21-1 with 16 Knock out.
His only defeat was in 2018 against Michael Hunter in 2018.
On the other end, Ajagba, 20-1 (14), also had a loss and 14 knocks in 20 fights. He is one of the hardest punchers in the game.
His only defeat as a pro came against Frank Sanchez, the Cuban, in 2021, he has racked up a couple victories and a bit of improvement in his skills set was evident in those victories.
Whether Joshua will accept his offer for a fight is left to be seen as the British Nigerian has his eyes fixed on settling the scores against Tyson Fury and probably becoming a third time World Boxing heavyweight champion after that damaging defeat in the hands of Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
